Deco – Derby Summer Sessions

In the centre of England, Derby hosted its second TK Maxx – Summer Sessions Festival on the weekend of the 12th – 14th of July. It ran Friday to Sunday with Sunday having the times rescheduled as revellers (and acts) were clearly going to be torn between music and football. The venue for the festival is under the big top in Markeaton Park, which really made a great venue for a selection of the charts biggest acts.

Deco are a hard working new band. Now based in London, but the all grew up a stones throw from todays venue. Their debut album is out on the 6th of September and we were treated to a sample of songs. If you have not heard Deco yet, then listen to tracks ‘Next to You’ and ‘I love that Song’ they will give you an idea of what they are like. They are fun Pop, with a Retro vibe, who are paying tribute to times gone by. When they do a nice version of The Verve’s’ ‘Bitter sweet Symphony’, the song that samples The Rolling Stones, which is a nice edition to their set, I normally am not to keen on covers but their version of the song is enjoyable. They merge the football song ‘World in Motion’ by New Order in honour of England reaching the finals of Euro 2024 and mix it up with their song ‘Everybody wants to be somebody Else’, which there is a very silly video for on YouTube, with a guy in a pizza suit walking around London, and even playing tennis.
