Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls played gig 3159 at Lincoln Castle
I love the fact that Frank counts his gigs. I also know which numbers I was at. Tonight we are at Lincoln Castle for the co-headline tour with Bowling For Soup. Frank has been friends with BFS for years and speaks fondly of them. I also really love the fact that when Frank addresses the crowd, he calls them ‘friends’, its such a lovely thing that feels so genuine. He tells us that he is struggling with a cold and has had to cancel his dj sets on drs advice, but he was doing the show.
Frank tells his friends that this is a punk rock show and we have to split in two down the middle. We are expecting a wall of death, but Frank tells us we need a wall of hugs and we should run and hug each other.
When taking the time to introduce The Sleeping Souls, Frank gets distracted and forgets to mention Tarrant on bass. After the next song he apologises and we all cheer for Tarrant. Frank then goes on to talk about the boxes on stage that he uses to stand on, the ‘ego risers’, he tells us that Tarrant doesn’t like them, so obviously we all cheer for Tarrant to use one during the next song and of course he obliges.
As the set draws to a close, Frank leaves the stage and comes down to the pit to sing with the crowd before crowd surfing while still singing. Perfect end to an unforgettable performance.
