Years after Jaret shouting ‘Storm The Castle’ Bowling For Soup played a Freakin Castle! Lincoln Castle
Bowling For Soup are back in England they are playing a Castle!
Jaret told us how years ago he said he thought the English ran around shouting things like ‘storm the castle’ and now they were playing a freaking castle. There were lots of people wearing storm the castle shirts, which have been sold for years through the bands site.
Bowling For Soup are so at home and comfortable on stage, they should be considering they have been performing as a band for 32 years , albeit with Rob now and no Erik or Chris. Jaret is a massive show off and everyone loves him for it. How many other bands can say they have a bar on stage? Behind the bar tonight we can see the tour manager, Frank Turner, The Sleeping Souls, American hifi and other crew members. I wonder if they were serving a cool ‘delicious Gary’?
Add to this the massive screen and pyrotechnics, it’s a great visual show. Did I mention the backdrop was a freakin’ castle?
The massive screen at the back of was full of colourful cartoons and graphics, videos of the crowd and photos of fanpage members and then they put the football on (England v Panama in the world cup) to check the score.
At one point a pigeon flew into the stage area. Jaret declared it to be a phoenix and it would probably do some ‘magical shit’ followed by ‘holy shit Rob, did you see that? It doubled. There’s now two phoenixes. Do they shit fire?’
The crowd were given the chance to win a guitar sighed by Bowling For Soup and Frank Turner by scanning a QR code. During the show, Jaret called out the name of the winner. Sheila! But no one could find Sheila. Rumour has it she is still in the toilet. A second name was drawn and Christopher came on stage with his son and gave him the guitar.
Jaret changed to an acoustic guitar to sing Turbulence. A song that means so much to so many people. Jaret speaks about anxiety and how we all need to be there for each other. ‘Theres 7000 people here tonight and you are not alone’. Jaret has said of the song “Turbulence is one of those special songs that goes through life with me. The “bumps in the road” are different, depending on the roads…but I always have this one to come back to to remind me that life is awesome…even the fart joke guy needs a boost from time to time.”
