The Clause – Rescue Rooms

I’ve been lucky enough to see The Clause many times. Small venues, packed out festival tents, even this venue. But tonight is different. It’s sold out and has been for ages. It’s the first tour since the release of their debut album, Victim Of A Casual Thing. It might be a cold December evening, but you wouldn’t know it. Despite the early start, doors at 6.30, first band at 6.50, the venue is packed. Alright, a five piece Indie band from Blackpool are first up and sound incredible. Find Alright band here.. You can have a look at our video of them here.
Next up was The Kairos, 4 lads from Liverpool. They have headline tour in March & April 26 and I highly recommend you go and check them out. The Kairos. Check out our video here & here.

Then it was time for our headliners. The house lights dimmed and “Morning Glory” by Oasis is played. The crowd immediately cheered and sing along. The stage lights change to “Victim Of A Casual Thing ?07383 221 644?” as “Prologue” starts to play and the band enter the stage to screams. They couldn’t hide the happiness on their faces. Then it’s straight into “Nothings As It Seems” followed by my favourite from the album “Tell Me What You Want”. This sets the tone for the night. It’s fun, it’s electric. It’s The Clause.

The rhythm section of Jonny and Niall provides a solid foundation, which, when combined with the guitars of Pearce and lead guitarist Liam, creates a sound that is much heavier and grittier live than on the record. This performance is superb, showcasing a band that is incredibly tight yet manages to maintain a seemingly haphazard, off-the-cuff feel, making it truly exceptional. It was the bands tech Bens birthday and they bought him onstage to wish him a happy birthday. During “Weekend Millionaire” Pearce came down to the pit to sing, then jumped into into the crowd, I one point I could only see his feet!
The night ended with “Element”. As soon as the guitar started, the crowd started to jump. I’ve since watched videos of the night from the balcony and it looks as crazy as it was to be part of it.
